Groovin for Autism
Twelve years ago, Tara decided to do something different for her birthday on April 7. Always looking for a reason to have a fun party, she planned a celebration for a bigger cause. She and about 10 friends held Girls Groovin for Autism at Groovy’s in OKC and raised about $500. From there, Groovin for Autism was launched, a day Tara and others call their favorite day of the year. Tara and her Today’s Therapy Solutions partner, Kelli, host the annual Groovin and have created an affordable event that supports AutismOklahoma and our Piece of Mind safety program. No one is turned away at the door. Although raising money is part of the event’s purpose, they really want Groovin to be a place where families, providers, teachers,and friends, can come and have a good time while increasing awareness about autism. Every year the event doubles in size, and now they even let guys in the door!
