Invisible Layers production of the animated film Even in Death was an Official 2016 deadCENTER Film Festival selection. At its first screening that weekend deadCENTER presented Even in Death with the Best Oklahoma Short Film Award! The filmmakers, mentors and AutismOklahoma staff were on hand to celebrate this prestigious award.

Over 1000 short films were submitted for deadCENTER’s film festival.  Approximately 240 films were selected by the film festival’s selection committee.  Of those, over 80 were made in Oklahoma and participated in the competition for Best Oklahoma Short Film.  Even in Death, an animated short film produced by 15 individuals with autism and 4 mentors, was selected the winner.

The animated short film was produced over a 1 year period and was the result of 1000’s of hours of work illustrating, animating, writing score and producing sound for this 10 minute feature.  The short film is being kept “under wraps” for now while the film team decides what is next for the film.  The film will likely be entered in future film festivals and may even try for an academy award!  (we’re dreaming BIG!)
